We love to highlight the amazing fair trade companies and artisan groups that create the beautiful products we are so excited about stocking our shelves with. All the groups have unique stories but similar missions- changing the traditional model of trade into one that benefits all producers, providing them fair market access and the opportunity of earning a living wage.
This month we focus on WorldFinds, a fabulous fair trade company based in Chicago, IL that works with mostly women artisans in India. We adore their well-designed products that bridge traditional craft methods from India with modern designs perfect for today’s trendy marketplace. From necklaces to knitwear to ornaments and more, WorldFinds makes fair trade fashionable.
With almost fifteen years of experience, WorldFinds focuses on cultivating direct, long-term relationships with all of its artisans and providing an opportunity for economic self-sufficiency through guaranteeing a living wage along with access to healthcare and education. As you will most certainly find with fair trade products, they are kind to the environment too. Many of WorldFind’s products are made from both local and recycled materials. Some of our favorites include those pieces created from kantha scraps of fabric, a traditional embroidery stitch used in India and other parts of Asia for centuries. The colorful material creates such a unique design and is truly hand-made, right in the artisans’ homes.
As we purchase more WorldFinds products in the coming weeks to stock up for the holidays, here are some of our favorites that you can find on our website and in-store right now! (Click on image to learn more).
