We wanted to start something new on our blog here at Four Corners by providing you a round-up of upcoming events at the beginning of each month- something for our readers to look forward to. Many of these events might be happening right at our store or ones where we are directly involved. Others may just be some good old fashioned fun to attend. Who knows, we may even include some virtual or out of town events if we think they are really worth it. After all, October is Fair Trade Month, so what better time to start. If you know of a fabulous event that we should feature- let us know. We hope you enjoy- and see you out there!

Free Film Screening at Four Corners: Connected By Coffee
Thursday, October 16th at 6pm
To celebrate Fair Trade Month, Four Corners, in collaboration with the Milwaukee Fair Trade Coalition, will be showing the newly released Connected By Coffee documentary! Following two North American coffee roasters on a journey through Central America, we hear stories from farmers that grow this coffee, we learn about their struggles, and discover how fair trade empowers small scale producers while changing lives and communities. Four Corners is proud to sell Just Coffee products, one of the featured roasters in this film. Come and learn more about how your purchase of 100% fair trade coffee can make a huge difference in confronting the injustices of traditional global trade. Read more about the film and view the trailer. Film viewing plus short discussion to follow. Snacks provided. Four Corners, 5401 W. Vliet Street
Agri-CULTURE Fest at Wellspring Organic Farm
Sunday, October 12th - 10 am to 6 pm
This is Wellspring’s annual Free Farm Festival, a celebration of the culture in agriculture and all things local, organic and sustainable! There will be live music, local food and craft vendors plus food for sale, hayrides, pumpkin painting and activities for kids, “Farmer Olympics” for all ages along with free educational workshops including a wild edibles walk, backyard bee keeping basics, cooking demonstrations, and more. My son and I just took a class there last week and loved it- such a great place to bring the family and enjoy life just a little bit outside the city!
Free Film Screening at The Times Cinema: Fed Up
Saturday, October 26th, doors open at 9am
Hosted by Outpost Natural Foods, the film Fed Up discusses the danger of eating processed and added sugar in our diet. It address childhood obesity, eating whole foods, and highlights the government and food industry’s role in perpetuating this national health crisis. I have seen the film and think it adds so much to the conversation that is not being talked about already. For more information on the film, visit www.fedupmovie.com
