I bet many of you didn’t know that Four Corners has an award winning Fair Trade Education Program? Yes, that’s right. One that is complete with basic curriculum resources, a Speakers’ Bureau, and plenty of films from our free lending library that make teaching fair trade in the classroom more than easy.
As our teachers head back to school, we know they are always looking for some new material, something above and beyond the mandated curriculum, something that will help their students understand the importance of being global citizens, of treating everyone around the world with respect and dignity. We also believe that kids are never too young to learn about why fair trade is important…after all, younger children are already grappling with the concept of fairness (How many times have we heard “That is not fair!”)
Four Corners is happy to provide our educators with a variety of resources that can help make the concept of fair trade come alive in their classrooms or in other educational settings (churches, local organizations, university groups). Some of the main topics we include are:
- What is fair trade?
- Eat Local Eat Fair
- Fair trade and immigration
- Fair trade and sustainability
- Fair trade and human trafficking
We believe that creating global change through fair trade starts with education and happens one person at at time. Together we can build awareness in our communities and cultivate a sense of responsibility for the well-being of all people on the planet. If you are an educator who is interested in bringing fair trade to your classroom, or you know one that is, get in touch! We are happy to provide you with these free resources and work with you to create a workshop or presentation that will challenge your students to new ways of thinking.
