Scented soap is one of those small luxuries I love to indulge in. Whether I keep it for myself or leave it the bathroom for guests to use, the refreshing and calming smell somehow stays with you all day. Soap is also a product that can be made naturally and is therefore often easy for artisans around the world to make who may not have access to many other resources.
These vegetable soaps are hand-made by artisans at the Palam Rural Centre in Tamil Nadu, India. According to Ten Thousand Villages, who works directly with the artisans, the center offers employment to the marginalized Harijan community and seeks to be the bridge builders to markets around the world. Sale of these soaps have allowed the center to to purchase land for the artisans, to build a school and to offer healthcare benefits.
The soap is also made from palm oil that is grown on local plantations in India that provides work to these farmers and does not contribute to deforestation. If you have not tried these fabulous soaps, you are missing out! We carry them in a variety of scents including Jasmine, Rose, Neem, Melon, Chef’s Soap and Gardener’s Soap. If you stop in this week only you can receive 10% off your purchase of all our vegetable soaps!
