Northwest Earth Institute (NWEI)
The Northwest Earth Institute offers 10 stimulating and inspiring discussion courses on a variety of environmental topics, including Choices for Sustainable Living, Voluntary Simplicity and Menu for the Future. Any group or individual can organize a discussion group by contacting either NWEI at www.nwei.org or their local affiliate, The Great Lakes Earth Institute at www.glei.org.
Most courses meet once a week for 90 minutes for a total of 5 to 7 weeks. Members of the group rotate responsibility for leading the discussions which are based on a book of readings. The only fees for the course are for the book of readings, usually costing $25.
Evaluations from participants often praise the high quality of the readings as well as the strong sense of community that is created by the discussions. NWEI is focused not just on spreading knowledge about environmental issues but is also committed to fostering more sustainable life styles for all participants. The discussion format and the sense of community support this move to more sustainable living.
Four Corners has organized a variety of courses over the years. If you are interested in participating in a future course sponsored by us, please email us at info@fairtrademilwaukee.org or call us at 414-443-9606. If you are interested in starting your own discussion group, contact the Northwest Earth Institute or the Great Lakes Earth Institute at the web addresses above.
